About Ice Mc
Biography / Discography
Ian Colin Campbell, professionally known as Ice MC, is a British solo rapper and eurodance pioneer born March 22, 1965, in Nottingham, England. He launched his professional career in Italy in 1989 after connecting with producer Roberto Zanetti (known as Savage), making his debut with the single “Easy,” which achieved top-5 success in Italy and top-3 in Germany.
Ice MC achieved peak commercial success during the 1990s Eurodance era with his third album, Ice’n’Green (1994), which featured vocalist Alexia and produced three major international hits: “Think About the Way,” “It’s a Rainy Day,” and “Take Away the Colour.” These tracks received substantial club play and dance radio airplay across Europe and North America. He pioneered a distinctive sound combining reggae-influenced rapping with female vocal choruses, an approach that significantly influenced the evolution of Eurodance during that decade.
After parting ways with Zanetti in 1996, Campbell released Dreadatour with limited commercial success before reuniting with Zanetti in 2002 to record Cold Skool (2004). He has continued collaborating with various artists through 2024.
