About Technotronic
Biography / Discography
Technotronic is a Belgian electronic music group formed in 1987 by producer Jo Bogaert. The project, also known by the alternate names Technotonic and Techtronic, specialized in eurodance and euro house music. The group achieved international recognition as a leading eurodance act of the early 1990s through their 1989 debut single ‘Pump Up the Jam,’ featuring vocalist Ya Kid K, which reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The success of ‘Pump Up the Jam’ established Technotronic as a defining act of the eurodance movement. Their self-titled debut album reached number 10 on the Billboard 200, and the project sustained momentum through subsequent singles including ‘Get Up! (Before the Night Is Over)’ and ‘Move This.’ Technotronic released two further studio albums, Body to Body in 1991 and Recall in 1995, before entering a period of inactivity in 2001.
The group’s legacy remains significant within electronic and dance music history, with ‘Pump Up the Jam’ continuing to define the eurodance sound of its era. Their work continues to be recognized as a defining moment in 1990s dance music.
