About The Mowgli’s
Biography / Discography
The Mowgli’s are an American alternative rock band from Calabasas, California, formed in late 2009 and widely known for their breakthrough single ‘San Francisco.’ The track charted at number 11 on the Alternative Music Chart and number 3 on the AAA Charts, gaining significant media exposure when the San Francisco Giants adopted it as their theme during their 2012 World Series championship run. The band has performed on major television programs including The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and Conan, establishing themselves as a notable act in the alternative rock scene.
The Mowgli’s released their debut album Sound the Drum independently in May 2012, followed by a record deal with Photo Finish Records, an Island-DefJam joint venture. Their extended play Love’s Not Dead (2012) featured ‘San Francisco,’ which became iTunes Single of the Week. Their label debut Waiting for the Dawn (2013) reached number 31 on Top Rock Albums and number 109 on the Billboard 200. Subsequent releases included Kids in Love (2015), Where’d Your Weekend Go? (2016), and the EP I Was Starting to Wonder (2018), which featured the single ‘Real Good Life.’ Their 2019 EP American Feelings showcased continued evolution in their sound and songwriting.
Throughout their career, the band has performed at major music festivals including Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Summerfest, and Austin City Limits. They have collaborated with notable producers including Tony Hoffer (Silversun Pickups, Fitz and the Tantrums) and toured alongside bands such as Walk the Moon, American Authors, and Manchester Orchestra. The Mowgli’s announced an indefinite hiatus in September 2020 following the release of ‘More Love,’ though they reunited for a performance in early 2024.
