About Desmod
Biography / Discography
Desmod is a Slovak pop-rock band from Nitra, active since 1996 and known for mainstream, radio-friendly rock songs sung in Slovak. The group traces its roots to 1986, when its members first played together as a heavy metal outfit, before settling into their current pop-rock sound and mixed-gender lineup a decade later, making Desmod one of Slovakia’s longer-running mainstream rock bands.
Fronted by vocalist Mário “Kuly” Kollár, Desmod released ten studio albums between 2000 and 2017, starting with the debut 001 and continuing through Mám chuť, Derylov svet, Skupinová terapia, Uhol pohľadu, Kyvadlo, Vitajte na konci sveta, Iný rozmer, Javorový album and Molekuly zvuku. Over the years the line-up has featured drummer Jano Škorec, guitarists Mirka Kelbel and Adam Mičinec, and bassist Juro Varga, alongside earlier members Dušan Minka, Rišo Synčák, Rišo Nagy and Michal Kožuch.
Across more than two decades of recording and touring, Desmod has built a following in Slovakia with a catalog of accessible, guitar-driven pop-rock songs and remains an active live act on the domestic club and festival circuit. The band is available to book for festivals, corporate events and private shows.
